Easy Flying Half Moon Bay

Built a new plane, it’s flying great! I’ll use it to test my latest lightweight head-tracking design for that ‘sitting in the cockpit’ feel. (It’s my unfortunate habit to make something that works alright and then progressively stack on more experiments until it fails catastrophically… and then rebuild it anew again and again)

I’m using 1.5g microservos and ball joints that I fashioned from plastic 6mm airsoft BBs. We want to control only pan and tilt but I had initial issues with unintended Roll of the camera. After some headscratching, I managed to constrain Roll with a long slot providing the 2DoFs rather than a fully 3DoF open socket. The travel is at +/-30 degrees but I desire at least +/-60deg. Since the lever ratio is already at the max, I’m currently redesigning around slightly larger servos achieve the full Field of View, allowing us to really ‘look into the turns.’
