flight | fixed wings
Consumer drones (multicopters) are cheap and work great, but flying Fixed-wings is much more fun to fly. I’ve been using a fantastic free airplane design program called XLFR5.
Lately, I’m trying to work on autonomous controllers (INAV), and longer-range FPV with head-tracking. I’ve had some middling success as off-the-shelf options are becoming better. Still it’s been fun (…and very frustrating) to continue exploring the control and communication systems, on top of the airframe design and construction itself.
My most recent efforts are towards longer range FPV. It’s super fun flying. The video transmission equipment never seems to work as well as advertised but some antenna boosters have helped. I’ve nearly gotten a stable platform with Head-tracking together but had some setbacks with the recent crash into the ocean which has wiped all of the electronics ;””( Anyway, here’s some of the easy going time flying at Fort Funston

These are some images from earlier projects and restorations, I will add later projects and descriptions in a while. Thanks!
